General FAQ

Q: Do I get to keep the copyright for anything I upload?
A: YES! We recognize that this is your hard work, and we would like to keep it that way. You will retain full ownership and copyright to anything you upload. All you're doing when you submit a design is licensing your permission to PosterBored to use the image. This means that you can even submit your image to other sites, as long as they don't have a problem with it. We certainly don't!

Q: What happens here at PosterBored.com?
A: 1. Artists come to PosterBored and upload a design for a 12x18 inch poster, or 18x12 inch, if it's landscape oriented. Basically, picture a concert poster, and it's about the same size.

2. Once the design is uploaded, the design gets voted on for seven days. At this point, it's up to the artist to get their friends to sign up and give the design high scores. Promote your poster! Users of PosterBored can leave comments or suggestions for the artist during this time, as well as score the design. A vote of 1 is the lowest score, and a vote of 'get this on my wall!' is the highest.

3. Twice a month, we'll look over all of the designs for which scoring/voting/commenting is complete. At that point, we'll choose a handful of the top scoring designs, have them printed up, and make them available for purchase in the PosterBored store.

Q: Do you pay your contest winners?
A: We want to reward artists who make art. Right now we're offering $20 and a copy of your design on a poster if you win. Once your design sells 50 copies, we'll send you $50. When your design sells 100 copies, you get $100! When your design sells 500 copies, you get $500!

It basically works out to a dollar per poster!

Q: What are the printed posters like?
A: The posters will be printed on 12 x 18 inch sheets of 80# (that's a reference to the thickness of the paper, and 80# is pretty standard for posters) uncoated cover stock. The final product will have more of a matte finish (as opposed to a glossy finish). That way, when they're on your wall, you see the design as opposed to the glare of a nearby light reflecting off of the poster.

Q: How do you ship the posters?
A: The posters will be shipped in durable cardboard tubes, protected by a layer of tissue paper. Your poster will never be folded. Let us know if the poster has become damaged on it's way to you, and we'll do our best to refund your money or send another poster.
