Jeffrey Brown

1. Who are you, where are you from, and how old are you?

Jeffrey Brown, Chicago, 32

2. Besides creating cool posters, what else do you do with your time?

Draw comics, read comics, read other books, listen to music, play with my son Oscar.

3. How did you first know you wanted to be an artist?

My dad used to draw on paper placemats at restaurants to entertain my brothers and I, and I started copying him at age 2, and I've wanted to be an artist ever since. Except for a brief time in high school where I wanted to go into sketch comedy.

4. What would the ideal professional career be like for you?

To be able to draw comics at a liesurely pace, with no deadlines or expectations, meaning I'd have to be getting paid some other way, in which case it's no longer a career I guess. Right now I get to spend most of my 'work' time drawing comics, and usually get to draw what I choose, and I usually get to set my own general deadlines, so I guess I'm about as close to the ideal as I can realistically get.

5. What is your favorite thing you've ever put up on your wall?

A page of original comic art by Julie Doucet.

6. Where else on these interwebs can we find you?

I'm still working on getting my own site up - www.jeffreybrowncomics.com - but until then the best place would be www.theholyconsumption.com , where you'll also find several other fine Chicago cartoonists.
